This is Bitsum Developer Labs, a separate division from Bitsum Consumer Labs.
We produce our own software. Our software is not rebranded, or development outsourced. When you email support, you are speaking with the actual developer of the software. In many cases, we innovate, then others try to copy.
Bitsum Technologies is located in Tennessee, USA. It is owned and operated by Jeremy Collake. Bitsum has relationships with individuals and companies throughout the world. Our software has ranged from lossless compression algorithms written in x86 assembly to Windows system utilities written in C++. We never stray far from low level system and software components though.
We and/or the owner participates in many F/OSS projects, have founded several projects, mostly charity and free offerings to the community. By charity we don't mean asking for donations, we mean freely devoting our time and resources toward projects that better the world, or fulfill a need.
Our mission is simply to develop quality, affordable, and innovative software of whichever genre suits our fancy. We want to provide solutions to problems not previously solved. As a small business, we remain closely connected with our users. We want our software to have a personal touch, and encourage user participation in the development process. We 'work' for a living. Our success or failure is directly related to the work we put in. Many of our projects are entirely free, open source, or semi-free. It is imperative that we receive user support to continue these projects. We do not hold a metaphorical gun over your head forcing you to buy. We'd rather you choose to support us.
Judge us not by our pledges though, but by our deeds. We are not perfect (nobody is), but you'll find we endeavor to meet our pledges. This 'world gone wild' needs some pledges to live by. Those are ours. The success to which we live up to them determines our fate. If you feel we failed in ANY of these pledges, please email us and we'll very seriously consider whatever concern you have. Of course, we can't please everybody, but we'll try anyway, lol.

Bitsum Technologies started as a small software development company located in the United States of America. It is a private business owned and operated by Jeremy Collake. Our company started in 1996 with the first public release of PECompact, our advanced Windows executable compressor. To this day, PECompact continues to have a strong presence in the executable compression market. We have since branched out to other areas, and authored a number of system utilities and other software. One of them, Process Lasso, has risen in user popularity and continues to enjoy a large, loyal user base.
Bitsum Technologies does not hide its WHOIS information. It is based in the USA. You may want to investigate 'that other company' before buying from them, see what their track record is, if they hide their identity, and if they behave ethically.
Always remember: The power is in your hands. Encourage those companies that are acting ethically by giving them your business. By adding this larger concern for society to our every day purchasing decisions, we can change the way capitalism works. If you support our projects, please help us to make a difference.
We have customers all over the world, both large and small. Many large corporations have purchased licenses for PECompact and Process Lasso. These include IBM, AMD, Porsche, Google, Audi, Xerox, Intel, Adobe, HP, Valve Software, the State of Delaware, and many others. As a good example, PECompact is used by Google on Google Desktop's installer and DivX Player. You may very well be using software compressed with PECompact and not even realize it.
Our free JCALG1 lossless data compression algorithm is also utilized for a wide variety of applications, including by AMD and VMWare.
Your personal information will always be guarded to the best of our ability, and we get NO ACCESS at any point to your credit card or other billing information. That is collected on behalf of us by widely trusted sources such as PayPal and RegNow (the top two in the industry, afaik). We will NEVER share your email address or any other information with ANYONE.
On portions of our web site we use Google Ads, like many sites do. Click here to see their privacy policy and even opt out of their ad cookies by installing a blocker browser plug-in. We only do this on a very small subset of pages, mostly ones that are externally linked to (e.g. information and articles we've written). They are used to help offset cost of certain free and open source projects we maintain.
We use Google Analytics for statistic collection on our web site. Google Analytics privacy policy is here. This service simply tracks web site statistics so we can know how utilized our server is and how well we are doing at recruiting new users. Your name or other personal information we have is never transmitted to it. Only information inherently sent in a browser request is known by it. It simply collects anonymous visitor data, the same found in any web server log (e.g. 1,000 people visited today, that kind of thing).
We use Twitter, FaceBook, and Google Plus 'Tweet', 'Like', and 'Plus' buttons, respectively. These simply direct to the pertinent Twitter, Facebook, or Google Plus site if clicked. They have their own privacy policy, as with all external links from this site (which are easy to detect given our consistency in page formation).
We guard what limited information we do store to the best of our abilities, certainly better than most companies our size, and probably better than most large companies. We have our Forum isolated on a separate server and using a separate database server. Again, NONE of your billing information is stored. We store only your name, email address, address, phone, company, and license information after making a purchase. These are the bare essentials.
We send NO newsletters or other advertisements out, at all.
Cookies are optionally used to keep you logged in to the Support area, Forum, and to collect web site statistics through Google Analytics (click name for privacy policy). The statistics collected are anonymous visitor data. For example, what countries are visiting the web site, how many visitors per day, etc... Almost every site on the Internet uses a statistic tracking service of some type, however many do not disclose this fact. Bitsum.com, bitsum.com (forum), and all other Bitsum Technologies sites do NOT require cookies to function. Disable cookies in your browser if you wish.
End user license agreements are found within our software prior to installation. It basically boils down to 'use at your own risk'. This is what most EULAs say, except they confuse matters in long paragraphs and clauses. This short paragraph neither replaces nor excludes any clauses found in our software. You agree to hold Bitsum Technologies, Jeremy Collake, and any affiliates or partners not liable for any damages, tangible or intangible, resulting from the use or misuse of any software on this site, or linked to from this site. Beta and Alpha versions should always be treated with special care and caution. Software environments are complex, with many different applications and hardware interacting with each other. Whenever you install any application, you must accept the risks inherent with change of such a complex environment.
Unless otherwise stated, all software, articles, and other content found here was developed by Jeremy Collake.
Our software is developed in C++ and x86-32 assembly language. We only develop unmanaged (non-.NET) code for maximum efficiency and minimum resource use.
PECompact has a number of available compression codecs, only one of which is authored by us - JCALG1. PECompact also utilizes LZMA by Igor Pavlov, and aPLib and FFCE by Joergen Ibsen.
Joergen Ibsen was also instrumental in the development of JCALG1, helping to provide wisdom and ideas from his excellent aPLib compression algorithm. JCALG1 is basically an open-source implementation of aPLib with a few changes and additions (i.e. block verbatim support to better handle pre-compressed data).
Some Process Lasso artwork was done by Nicolas Nguyen.
Our web site CSS theme is derived from the work of James Taylor, though it has been hacked on quite extensively by us.
